As far as i know if you join a club they are the one's who have the insurance (for the track ect) and usually if its a local event they make you pay to become a member before you race, therefore your insured through them!

Slightly different question - what is IRDS insurance?? I see its a requirement for stage rallies. Is there a requirement for it in other motorsports??
