    Hi,
I tried booking my car in for the NCT online but it looks like there are no spaces left in any NCT center for the rest of the year!!!!! (?)

    Anyone else experience this?

Just booked the GFs car in there in Nass for end of Sept there are 2 weeks of dates left. Nass was the closest to Dublin I could get as all the Dublin ones have no dates.

Just get a booking for anywhere and then try to sort a cancellation by calling the NCT people.

Book in your car for its NCT in any centre. You get a ref no.
You can then call the NCT people with your booking reference and try to get a new date and centre.

You could get a date within 2/3 days.

Ahhh.. - So just wait for a cancellation and then switch dates...

I've done that before, - you don't even need to call them up (it's a live system) you can just go online from time to time to see if anyone canceled.

I found a date in Kells for october!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the system was down, - just turns out there are feck all dates available anywhere in the country!

A few months ago I was trying to nct a different car and the waiting time was about a month, a few minutes after booking it I went online to reschedule and I got one for within the week.

If you want a date then you need to be patient, keep checking dates and they'll show up.

I booked my test last Sunday for last wednesday, in the end I couldn't go so I rebooked it for this Tuesday.

Other than that just ring them to get a date, I don't see any point in booking some random test centre just to cancel it!

yeah i dont know what the story is, im just unlucky when i go on to change the date!

either that or no one in cork has a new car so everyone needs an nct:)

Did you try ringing instead of using the online booking? I phoned up and got a July evening booking only 4 weeks later in Ballymun. No problems at all getting the time I wanted either.

Begs the question, are they going to open more centers? or at least post something out to you so you can flash it at the cops if they check (that you've at least applied for the test and waiting on the date to get send out).

Why call them, when you can email them instead,

I have had no issues to book using the email, both for test and retest.

They don't need more centres: this fiasco only began when they didn't renew SGS contract and gave it the Spaniard's instead.

    SGS were Swiss.

Tells me all I want to know about 'organisation' tbh.........

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

The centres are constantly fully booked. They simply don't have the capacity. Its even more ridiculous given that the bulk of cars were bought at the beginning of the years so early months tests are impossible to get due to uneven demand
