What's your job, what's your "dream" job?

What are you up to at the moment? If you're not working, what was your last job/what job is it likely you'll end up in next?

And... is this the job you have always wanted?

    Or have you always wanted to do something else but;

    1. Gave up on it as it was too unrealistic
    2. Are still slowly working toward it

Just curious. I would imagine a lot of boardsies are 'puter people. At a guess I'd say the majority of the boards population spend their time working in office jobs (which, if they're anything like the jobs shown in "The Office", can't be too shabby).

Personally, I'm a bum at the moment. Have done a bit of cabinet making in the past, but if I was to walk into a job tomorrow, it's likely I'd be a sales assistant earning minimum wage in some retail store.

Thing is; I have no "dream job". I have absolutely no idea what I'd like to be doing in 5, 10 or 20 years time. :(

Have always kinda mildly considered Emergency Service/Garda/Army employment, but dunno if I'd be suited.

    How about ye?

My dream job is to be an English teacher, has been for years. Problem is, I didn't bother studying at all for other subjects, so ended up with an A1 in English and otherwise average/poor/shíte results, therefore not having enough points to get into any of the English degree courses...

Really thinking about going back as a mature student in a couple of years, otherwise I can see myself going from job to job and never being happy in any of them.

Slowly working towards it - hopefully I'll get my chance to take up my dream job here in Ireland.

I'm getting on in age a bit for it though (nearly 25) so if it doesn't work out this year I'll have to pursue it elsewhere.

Not to be a dick or anything, but I don't think I know anyone or of anyone (except you) who wanted to be an English teacher, I know a few English teachers who wanted to be writers and such, but to teach specifically English, noone, except you. A weird one I must say...good luck in it though, anyone willing to teach the little scrotes in school nowadays deserves all they can get.

My current "occupation" I am a carer for my 15 year old sister for the last 4 years, unpaid though I have applied for Carer's allowance due to her disability, not sure if I will get it.

My dream Job, To be in the Royal Marines or similar. A war fighting military organisation. What is holding me back is my vision, it's terrible, absolutely horrendous, not good enough to get Laser Surgery until the tech catches up to me. So in 7/8 years, maybe, but not right now.

Other work I would really like and enjoy but don't have the motivation to pursue, Professional musician, Actor, Psychologist.

Maybe in future I will be one of these, but I doubt I will be happy until I have spent a few hard grit years in a proper military organisation.

I would to get into a comedy or film just something 'creative' in that sense but I don't really have the talent unfortunately. Maybe I might be a writer for a film magazine like Empire I would really like to do that.

Kudos to you for looking after your sister.

Why don't you set up a facsimile of one of those American paramilitary, survivalist type organisations out in the wilds of West Cork while waiting for your chance at the proper military. It'll look good on your cv. :D

At the moment I'm starting my own business, doing custom made cakes and cupcakes etc., only been doing it a few months but turns out I'm kinda good at it. I'm gonna give it a year and see how it goes, if it doesn't work as an actual income I'll get a proper job and keep doing it as a hobby.

In terms of realistic dream jobs this would be it, but my dream job really is a dream, I'd love to be a dancer, but as I have no rhythm and am not a very sporty/flexible person it would never happen, I just love the idea of it! A friend of mine is a dancer in London, it's so glamorous, I'm so jealous!

Maybe your friend is on a forum in the UK on a very similar thread saying a friend of mine in Ireland makes cupcakes, proclaiming she is jealous..

    .. probably not.. :D..

Good luck with the business, hope it works out. :)

I've had loads of different jobs, From being a Chef to being a Sales Rep and then being a Supply chain manager for a food company..

After being on the Dole for nine months I got a job as a Bar manager it's not my ideal job, Its helping to pay the bills..

I am waiting on word to become
    a prison officer
and I am looking forward to the challange of that, But I want to have a hobby in food photography that will also become a side line too..

If I could manage that I'd be happy..

Also if the chance came to press the RESET button on my life I would have love'd to become a Photographer for National Geopgraphic..
