    hi
just bought a second hand stanley oisin stove hence no manual, i have looked up the stanley website and it does not say wheather the top baffle plate can be removed or how to do it for cleaning the flue, the flue is coming out of the back of the stove, so could anyone tell me how to remove the baffle plate for cleaning as i dont want to force it out and then maybe not get it back in again! thanks!

Can't help you much, but the manual does say that if the Oisin has no backboiler, then you must remove the top baffle plate (yet it doesn't explain how) before cleaning chimney.

Here's the manual in case you haven't seen it already.

    Hi Bubbles747,

I'm just having the same problem in trying to remove the top baffle plate in order to clean the flue and was wondering if you got it out without doing a load of dismantling of the bars etc?

    Thanks

    Cleaning Flue Ways
    1. Remove fire fence bars (part 19).
    2. Remove the two top baffle protection plates (parts 15a).
    3. Remove the top baffle (part 15): Place hand under baffle. Lift up and slide to the right hand side. Drop left hand side at a 45 degree angle and remove.
    4. Remove the two front side bricks (parts 13) and then the two remaining side bricks (parts 13). Then remove the back brick. (Part 14).
    5. Clean thoroughly inside the fire box.
    6. To replace parts in the fire chamber repeat step 1 to 4 in reverse.

you will need to look at the exploded view to follow the instructions
    got this from stanley today

Sorry to dig up an old thread but is the top baffle supposed to sit on top of the side bricks , or is there a space of ~20 mm above the brick ? i cant seem to get it to rest directly on top.
    Thanks
    john

Ok To answer my own question.(and for anyone else wondering) I checked with the local Stanley center, and can confirm the baffle sits on top of the metal lugs , not the bricks. .
so the ~20mm gap is correct.

Thanks for the info, very helpful.

The job was fairly handy, took me about an hour, tho only really 10mins in it if you knew what you were doing.

Can someone sanity check this for me - does this look right!?

    Stanley Oisin baffle re-assembly

I'm hoping it's almost in order. Of course, these have to go in somewhere =>
    baffle plates

How exactly do I slot those two back in?

Managed to get the baffle plates back in with a little help from Stanley in Waterford. Wish they'd stick out a youtube video on this - would make it so much easier for folks to tackle (it's not that difficult - but same as everything...easy when you know how).

Had one of them here years ago.it welded itself with heat.took out the bricks and baffle plate with a lump hammer and a chisel.cleaned her down and fitted all new plates and bricks.cost around 100 for parts.after that I did it weekly no problem.if it’s left too long you are fukd
