I'm thinking of buying a mini from the north and I was just wondering if anyone knows any good dealers or can give me any advice on how to go about it.

    Thanks

Want some advice? take a look down south first. There is very little value to be had in the UK or up North anymore.

    www.usedcarsni.com is a good site.

The engage rate and VRT is killing the value mind.

    What a sweeping generalisation!

minil08, that's not entirely true at all. There are definitely bargains to be had if you're willing to put in the legwork and there's also a wider variety of cars/specs to choose from.

    Rubbish.
It depends what you buy. You can still save alot of money up North on some models.

All posts above are correct. Op should shop around here and Uk to see what deal is available. A fairly normal car is cheaper here but something special maybe cheaper in the uk.

    This statement is not correct:

There is huge value to be had up north. You are probably right thou - normal cars are just as cheap here, if you up the spec and add in some extras then North is probably better.
But banger spec is still in effect - say for example you buy a bog standard a3. You'll save absolutely nothing buying up north, but you will get a three year warranty instead of the 2 year southern warranty. Buy a specced up a3 you'll save money.

When the trade over here cant find value in the UK or up North then i find it hard to imagine someone who needs to come on here for advice on the subject will be able to find a bargain. Thats my point.

I also think its silly and possibly a costly mistake not to check out options down here first (or just assuming that the North will save you a million euro because Patsy down the road says so).
