Have just gone diesel in our family -2001 Scenic 1.9 DCi 105 bhp and Nissan Micra DCi 65bhp...these 'diesel tuning boxes' are advertised for under 70 pounds sterling on Ebay ....they offer massive improvements in power/torque and mpg are they just a con like the old 'resistor' wire tuning boxes of old or do they really work? Are they worth it?Do you need to go to an 'expert installer' like Superchips to get a good job done?Do you reckon they will rapidly hasten the wear on clutches etc on a highish milage car ?Thanks.

Don't waste your money on any of that rubbish. A proper remap from a reputable place is the way to go.

    DONT BE A BOYRACER!!!

Dont you know the latest boy racer habit?! tuning out the turbo diesel engines!

Messing aside, i wouldnt trust ebay with nothing these days. You basicly need a remap, i prety much sure, that bouth carsyou own have ecus that are unprogrammable. You will need some piggyback ecu for it. Try some place that does it profesionally, dont buy crap of ebay.

It seems to be a mod that people do as a DIY. I think its called the Emry mod or something like that.

They wire a resistor into certain wires and then into a switch on the dash and when they want more power they flick it.

All its doing is tricking the ECU into thinking its colder then it actually is I think.
I like getting on with my ECU so I wouldnt lie to it, Id go for a remap. :p
At least all the computer is reading actual data and giving the extra power instead of stuff thats been made up.
