Was coming home yesterday and saw a 03 Saab with white smoke spewing out of the exhaust and from under the bonnet.Strangest thing wasw the woman was sitting inside with the engine running. Would that be a blown head gasket

A blown head gasket would sound something like a steam engine if you kept on driving. :p

It was fairly obvious, I could see it from about 100m away.
Come to think of it the wrong fuel theory could be right because it was fairly near a petrol station, but wouldnt fuel burn blue?

Expect it from a Saab at some stage (headgaskets), had 2 of these and have to say the most dissapointing and delicate car i ever owned !!:(
