Northern Ireland Orthodontist Recommendations?

Looking into getting braces very soon. From what i've read the prices in the north seem more reasonable that down here and as my parents would be the ones paying for it I'm looking for the best value for money.

So what I'm looking for is some recommendations from people who have had treatment in the North, for a fair price and a good service. Preferably an Ortho who does lingual as well as ceramic and regular ones as I would like to get a quote for all types and go from there. I'd also like a place that can give me an appointment failry soon, don't want to be waiting for 3 months just for a consultation.

I know you cannot give out names on the board so if people could send PM's I'd greatly appreciate it. Cheers

Firstly if you parents are paying and you want value forget the lingual and ceramics as they are more expensive everywhere.

Secondly try an ortho in the south they are very reasonable these days and competition is driving prices down, you will find the price difference taking into account the 50 euro in petrol every trip or 40 on the train, time off work/college, sterling difference etc...to be minimal if not cheaper in the south.

Also be sure that a proper orthodontist does your treatment. See http://www.orthodontics.ie/

Well when i say my parents are paying I mean that I will be loaning the money from them and will be paying it back so technically the money is mine and I'm pretty vain when it comes to my looks so i more than likely will not be getting metal braces.

Also won't be in college during the time I have my braces, and i also drive a motorbike which costs about 20euro for 250km of gas so travel isn't a major issue.

I do understand that the value for money in the North has receded somewhat and I do appreciate your help but I would still like to go up and get a quote and compare it to somewhere in the south and make a decision from there. I will also be 100% positive that I'm being worked on by a specialist before I go ahead with any treatment, don't want some dentist with a 2 week orthodontic course having trained on rabbits the whole time doing such major work on my mouth.

You can get 3M ceramics, top and bottom for around £2000STG all-in up north. I had mine done for less than that, though that was nearly three years ago now (I've been braceless for over 6 months), but I can't see it being much more expensive, maybe £2500. It's tough going for the first while, especially if you have to get teeth extracted to make some room in your mouth, but if you're committed to the treatment you won't regret it, I'd do it again no problem. I'll pm you the details.

Five thousand here and three thousand up there. Treatment was second to none. No waiting around it was straight in each time. Appointments every six weeks. I would highly recommend.
