The Festival Roadshow (RTE) - Saw this on RTE 1 last night.

    It was so bad.

TG4 does the Feilte series going around showing Irish Festivals.

They film parts of a festival and talk to people.

The RTE show in compassison was dire.

It was presented by Catherine Thomas. Why does RTE put this out in a prime time slot?

oh god yeah it was bad.. was watching it fleetingly while doing something else.. particularly funny was when the acrobats, who were literally shaking like leaves, had a major faux pas causing one of them to fall quite badly.... The cameraman panned away to save their blushes... only to focus on a distraught looking child, having witnessed the acrobat coming crashing down to the pavement.

Stayed in on Friday night to find RTE's primetime offering is the Festival Roadshow. Festivals are great, but you have to be there, they don't translate to TV. Kathryn Thomas is doing her career no good with this rubbish. Could be the end of her and it doesn't do her startlet image any good, she looks frumpy. Having just spent another week trying to find a job, having to listen to Mary Hannafin talk about how much fun she is having opening festivals on a ministers salary was the final straw.

I think it was the first ep where they were in Galway and she created one of the most awkward scenes Ive ever seen on tv where she singled out some guy in the crowd and said something about how old he looked and then tried to backtrack saying he looked fine when he just stared at her silently instead of laughing, horrific programme.

saw a bit of the galway episode, poor enough.
It feels like something RTE & Katryn T were 'made' do to help 'de economy'

It didnt work that great but Catherine is a pro so give her a break. I mean what do you do with a show of that format? Having siad that, some of the acts had no place on national prime time

The format of the show etc. was decided by Kathryn Thomas, she said so on the Ray D'Arcy show. I think she has a problem actually dealing with people, it doesn't seem to come naturally to her and there always seems to obe an awkwardness when she is trying to engage the public on a one-to-one basis.

That's true. She spends too long humping herself in the Sahara and other exotic locations to be in touch with the common man or woman.

She presents Winning Streak. That says a lot about her. She's in the trash heap. No more Frontiers for her! She seems to be popular on radio though. Is it because she doesn't have to worry about how her tits look?

i think she ok just the show is badly put together. very scatty going from person to person. if she got the right programme i think she has talent. she is very good on the radio, a natural presenter IMO, RTE could do worse than give her a permanent slot. i think she looked well though the other night....

She seems to be working out well on the Radio. Haven't seen this show, bizzare time for it 21:30 on a Friday, it would suit 6:30 while the news is on a break.

The TG4 show is a far better production, but they have being producing it since the late 1990s. (Irony its an RTÉ production!).

Run it on RTE2 at the same time Nationwide is on RTE1. That would tell the men from the boys (or the women from the girls). Mary Kennedy v. Kathryn Thomas - it'd be better than mud wrestling.

Perhaps its time someone suggested Celebrity Mud Wrestling to RTÉ, Mary V Kathryn.

I can just see Mary's lips hanging out of her bikini.

Not sure it would be up on the RTE player, if it hasnt been pulled.. All the acts that night were pretty poor. I reckon I could do most of the things myself without any training.. it's worth a look.. I think the show was the 30th July. (I posted that posting a good few days ago).

yeah was embarrassing, but certainly not the only cringe moment of the short series.. The show was pretty much a shambles, but I dont think you can blame Kathryn Thomas for this..

I dont like her on the telly. Those bulging eyes make me feel uncomfortable, and she always shouting out the telly at you... Leave her on the radio, she's good there.
