Can't believe the nerve of this guy. Hopefully he'll get chucked back in where someone competent can finish the job.

wouldn't be surprised if he did get a pay out

As long as they allow the parents of the two girls he butchered, to put in a claim against him for higher damages, then I can see no problem.

This was my thought exactly after hearing about this on the news today.

It beggars believe. I have just posted on the thread about John Venables and the Jamie Bulger case

Huntley is someone else who has committed an awful crime and seems to think he has a God given right to a cushy lifestyle in prison.

He shouldn't get any money. What use is 100,000 to him in prison.

All I ever heard about him when reported in the paper was that he was on 'suicide watch' and now he's complaining that the prison service 'failed him'.

Makes me so angry. I don't think he's ever shown any remorse for what he did to those two lovely little girls. He may be serving however many years he is in prison (how many is it, by the way?) but Holly and Jessica's parents have a long life sentence ahead of them without their little girls.

    Sickening

Suicide watch don't seem to be watching all that closely...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

His victims family should sue him for all the grief and suffering he inflicted on them.

Yeah, they should all just be thrown into a pit together once convicted.

Ah yeah, getting your throat slashed is the HEIGHT of the cushy lifestyle.

    Jesus Christ.

Huntley is considered one of Britain's most high-profile prisoners as he has been repeatedly targeted by other inmates and has attempted to take his own life three times.
He has been seriously assaulted a number of times since his conviction.
In 2003 tried to overdose on antidepressants at Woodhill Prison in Buckinghamshire.

Its only a matter of time before someone finishes the job or he does it himself.

What a pity they didn't finish him off.

No, they shouldn't have. I rather see Ian Huntley rot away for the next 40 year or so years rather than be killed now.

Agreed, leave him in prison with no chance of getting out
Death is the easy way out

He's got a messed up mind and I reckon this new campaign is his way of sticking the finger up at the world in general. Who cares. He may get his money (the law is unbiased), but he's going to die in jail.

I wouldn't lower myself to his level by wishing death on him. It will happen sooner or later, and, if there is an afterlife, he's going to look back on jail as a holiday camp.

Ah yeah, getting your throat slashed is the HEIGHT of the cushy lifestyle.

    Jesus Christ.

I agree that getting your thoat slashes isn't a cuhsy lifestyle.

However, it is well documented that he and others like him don't exactly have to scrub floors for 12 hours a day or do a lot of menial work. In fact, people like Huntley (i.e. cold blooded murderers - Venables and Thompson are other examples) seem to get a great degree of protection from the prison service.

They can't observe 24 hours a day (i.e. probably why he got his throat slashed), but if he is ever to get out (not sure how long his sentence is), he'll probably just be given a new life, new identity etc while the Wells' and Chapman families have to go on living in a living hell knowing that their children were brutally murdered and never coming back.

If I am honest, I don't want to see someone else kill him or for him to kill himself. Like others have said on this thread, death is the easy way out. Okay, he's going to hell (if you believe in the heaven and hell concept), but I think the far fairer way is for him to remain a live and in prision until the day he dies in order for him to reflect on what he's done.
This is why I am so against the death penalty. Far better for people to repent for what they did and suffer punishment. Death is just allowing them a 'get out clause' in reality

Where society ensures that all humans still have rights?

If the prison service were not doing their job properly, and this is the reason for the attack, then he has every right to sue.

They all seem to be coming out of the woodwork now.

Killer Ian Huntley is to sue the prison service after he had his throat slashed by another inmate in Frankland Prison, County Durham.

It is reported he is demanding almost £100,000 from the Ministry of Justice for failing in its duty of care towards him.

He was taken to hospital in March after the attack and required urgent treatment.

What ever this cnut receives should be handed over to the parents of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

As heinous as his crime was, hes still a human and certain rights should be afforded to him.

Was convicted and serving his sentance.

You should be able to stay in prison without fear of getting your throat slashed.

If the prison service can't or won't protect every inmate then they are either incompetent or need extra resources.

What's with this "honour among thieves"?
Rob a bank or bomb a target and you are a common criminal or terrorist. In fact, bomb a target and people call you a patriot or hero or even political prisioner

But certain crimes like rape or murder disgust criminals and your fellow inmates look down on you and try to kill you

Yes..he should get his rights...and a few lefts too.

What "rights" did he afford innocent children?

    Dirty bastard.

    that was pretty funny,degsy

Him suing for money is probably just some end game theory on his behalf

whether he wins or loses is irrevelant, as prison wardens

will be instructed to tighten up security on him, to avoid another incident

Somone will probably still get to him, I personally hope no one kills him,
just makes sure his life is as miserable as possible, for as long as possible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,815 ✭✭✭✭galwayrush

FFS, he tries to take his own life whenever he gets a chance, yet feels he needs compo when someone (understandably) attacks him...

The prison service should just release him.

Hold a press conference to inform the public he's getting out at such and such a time and let that be that.

No burden to the taxpeyer and justice served inside 24 hours.

No I disagree with this entirely Scientific1982.
He gave no rights to the two little girls when he murdered them.
He took away everything from them, and everything they would ever have.
He consigned their parents and families to a lifetime of heartbreak.
When he chose to do this his rights should be forfeit.

I would question the "humanity" of such a person.

I understand where you are coming from, but he should have zero rights in my opinion.

Of course he is, Scientific - hasn't he got a great way of showing it?
