    Hi mf690
my personal opinion would be to make round bales but if you only have 4 or 5 horces i would make small square bales

also it would be worth looking at makein haylige instead of hay if your selling the bales as it is a better product

Have you storage for either? You'I pack alot more small square bales into the same space, provided you've the help and don't mind losing a bit of sweat:D You'I sell a few squares quicker too if you've some to spare.

The small squares are very handy for feeding out come winter time. Especially when your not feeding a herd of hungry cows, your not going to be getting through many each day. You won't have to be relying on a tractor to start on the cold mornings to feed them either.

If you've the horses away from the yard, no probs, just throw a few in the back of car/jeep or a trailer and off you go.

Buy a good clean square baler if you've your heart set on buying a baler, that's my advice;)

Don't rule out using a contractor either if there's one in your area, might work out cheaper and your not worried aout it breaking down, it's the last thing you'I need after your heart is almost broke replacing haybob tines and springs and it's looking like theres rain on the way!

    Best of luck
