    Hey all,

    I am thinking of down-grading to Vista and I'm wondering if there isn't a driver for the vista OS, will a driver for windows 7 work on vista?

    The reason I'm downgrading is the number of crashes on windows 7 is getting too much for me, i've done everything from installing drivers and reinstalling them and restoring back to factory settings and my mate has done a few things as well, my mate is a software engineer by the way.

    Cheers in Advance

    It depends on what type of PC you have whether there are Vista drivers available for it. Windows Vista and Windows 7 are nearly identical so drivers shouldn't be a problem.

    But saying that, due to their similarities I believe if you're having problems with 7 you'll have them with Vista too. There could be something physically wrong with the machine (bad RAM, hard disk etc) and this would manifest itself in any OS.

    Going from Windows ME to windows 98 is understandable
    Going from Vista to XP also (especially in the early days)

    For other versions the only real reason to go back versions was if your hardware wasn't up to it.

    Vista is not faster or more stable than Windows 7.

    Frying pan --> fire

    Also if you have a home license you probably don't have downgrade rights to earlier versions of windows.

    cheers for all the feedback, but i was thinking is it possible that the crashes are a result of a bad windows install?

    If that was the case would a fresh install of windows work?

    Also its a 64bit windows 7 and all my my programs are 32bit might that have an affect??

    Cheers again for any help and feedback you can offer:)

    leedsfan a fresh install would help after you back up your stuff, but with x64 it has a separate folder for storing your 32bit apps. if you wanted to drop me a PM i'd be more than happy to take a look at it for you, it could simply be a bad RAM module causing the BSOD's, or it could be just your filesystem at the start of your hard drive is corrupted. im trying to keep this as understandable as possible, but usually half an hour would diagnose your problem.. :)
