Interested to know what is the difference between peoples fresh 5/10k run times and there 5/10k times in a triathlon? Also for your bike or swim times?

Tim Don did a 28:56 fresh 10k in manchester and 31:13 in High Vee triathlon where he won. obviously there will be a difference in the course etc but its just a guide.

Fresh 35 mins and best in a tri was just less than 40 mins. Would depend a lot on how hard you push it on the bike. Did a half iron man last weekend and all i could manage for the run was 1.40 as opposed to 1.20 fresh which is a pretty substantial difference.

wow...substantial difference. I think that the difference would depend a lot on how strong a cyclist you are aswell as for a stronger cyclist it would take less out of them so you'll be fresher for the run. Im at 17ish mins for a triathlon 5k and I think about 16mins for a straight 5k, so a min for 5k and prob 2-3 for 10k.

Would concur with airscotty on the 5/10km.

For the 1/2 IM other factors like not taking on enough liquid/nutrition (as well as bike fitness) will almost definitely get you whereas for the 1/2 marathon you'd get by on nothing/some liquids.
