As the wind spends its effort
stripping an oak tree of its colour
outside the window where the moon
exudes the sun and there are only silhouettes,
I lament because of my bankruptcy
and its imminent disclosure to my family.
Yet as I ponder the almost unimaginable
concept of starvation, I cannot help but hope
souls once tortured from famine linger somewhere
and do something and perhaps this oak is owned by one.
