    Hi folks,
    Two quick questions for ye.
    1. Are simulators realistic (response of plane, i dont care about graphics)
    2. Is there such a thing as a radio controller arial for a pc. I mean if I use a simulator and I dont have a radio controller that connects directly to a pc, can I get some kind of receiver that will let me use my bog standard controller on the sim. or is that a stupid idea?
    Thanks again for the help.

The trick is to connect a RC transmitter to the PC with a special USB:transmitter adapter cable.
Some simulaters come with a cheapo transmitter in the box along with the software.

Look for FMS, free download, just buy the transmitter/cable.

They are certainly realistic enough to get a good feel of the controls, the good simulators have a much more realistic feel than the sort of one that comes with this one i will put link up for, but we use this controller on one of the proper simulators here when visitors want to have a go at what its like RC flying. Its just a controller for using on simulators (or games), and not actually a radio.

Other than that you need a USB adaptor for real radio`s if you prefer that. Its a usb lead with a plug on the other end to suit the particular make of radio you have if you had one already, with an electronic communication adaptor in the lead.

Never used it but just a look at the link page you have there it looks good.
There might be some good free download ones like coolwings said, i never had a look for any myself, we
use realflight G3 which is a few years old now but its still very good.

here is youtube page of some flights we have done, i actually learned the helicopters on the simulator, but planes i started in the late 80`s learning from other pilots, which is still a big help even when using simulators, but the simulators are great for getting the feel of it.

Whether you use a sim or not .... and sims are very helpful .... you will use less glue and make less repairs if you get an instructor to help on the first flights.
It goes like this: a flight with a little bump means going home for a fix. But with an instructor, that is avoided, and that flight is followed immediately by 2-3 more flights.

Yes nothing is better than instructor beside you with 2 radios connected, with a simulator for practice at home.

I had the clearview one and used it for while, its quite good for the price I thought. I now use Pheonix RC graphics are great and seems quite realistic to me, they have demo you can download.
