Hi jap gt, I stand to be corrected and I obviously am not fully aware of your circumstances but I don't think you would loose your no claims bonus and would still be building up ncb driving the van for that matter. I started driving in a Renault Megavan with Quinn direct and build up a ncb in the same manner as I would have in a passenger vehicle wheter subsequently taking out motor insurance with Quinn Direct or any other provider.

I had it insured for social, domestic and pleasure use. Perhaps if you have it insured strictly as a commercial vehicle the goal post may shift. Probably best to ring Quinn Direct. They should (I would hope) be able to tell you where you stand in this regard straight away.

Your bonus is your bonus; you can transfer it from private to commercial and vica versa without penalty.

There is no hard and fast rule concerning this situation. Some companies have no problem with a no-claims bonus earned on either a private or commercial policy...others will allow for a private no-claims when transferring to a commercial policy, but not vice versa (for some strange reason they consider that claim-free commercial driving is different than private use).
The good news is that a no-claims bonus is normally valid for up to 2 years, so if the OP does go back to a private car in the next 2 years he/she should'nt have any problem.
