Just get a universal one from an autofactor. Theres only a couple of different types. Shouldn't cost much more than €30.

€30? Even for a uni is a bit cheap? Twice that again I would have thought?

Ya Calbro, Partway etc. One of them should do it. €30 is not to far off the mark I dont think for a universal lambda. Just depends were you go.

Price's vary!, just search around. Dont be afraid to call autofactors they should know what your talking about straight away.

ive to replace the lamda sensor in my 00 1l yaris and I was told not to go for a universal one, to go for a specific one. Quoted €85 from motor factors to order in, and €190 from a toyota dealer  €60 second hand

This is going to sound rude but a second hand lamda (oxygen) sensor is like second hand toilet paper. You just don't want to go there. Trust me.

    Cheers

Admittedly it was OEM but mine was 165 sterling. I'd imagine it would be pure muck for 30 euro. And second hand is a bit pointless

Cheap isn't always bad I have bought them for that and have never had one back. I'm just throwing it out there theses things are all so mass produced that there is a colossal mark up depending where you go.

Lambda sensor is too important to go for E2 Shop universal crap.
I'd buy the non genuine one, but at least it's specific to the MX5, also if it's on mx5parts (I posted the link above) it will have reviews written about it.
Also, it's a proper MX5 enthusiast website, they won't have any rubbish on it, I'd trust them before I trust Paddy Mick's Tractorparts Superstore.

aahh! the good old lambda sensor yoke! never heard of this before until last year. my merc failed its nct on emmissions, and had to get one of these in, apparently this was the cause of the problem. it passed the next time round alright, but the sting of the E500 bill lasted for a while after.

thanks to everyone for the replies. i tried the company in england mx5parts every pricey 179 gbp so im going to try calbro motors and see what they say :)

The cheapest I could find a sensor for my car was £280. Don't go cheap or 2nd hand. you're only going to chance making hassle for yourself further down the line.

Have you measured the lambda sensor so you know that it is actually broken. Since it is a quite expensive part, so just to make sure.

You weren't looking hard enough!
MX5Parts also has a non genuine sensor, I have posted the link in one of my earlier posts, but here it is again:

    http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/2137

£69, that's fairly good and if it's on their website it's usually no crap.
