    hey folks
Just a quick one, what oz gloves are the norm for ametuer Muay Thai bouts in Ireland, I have 16oz for sparring and am looking at buying another set for pad work and that today, so i wana make sure they are also the correct weight for Fights so i dont have to dish out for another pair.
Also looking at getting Hayabusa are they any use ,

    Cheers

    under 70kg 8oz

    over 10oz

fat lads over 100kg wear 12 oz fro pro fights

    always 16oz for amatuer

Get bag gloves for hitting pads. There's no sense wrecking a decent pair of sparring gloves.

I thought Hayabusa were supposed to be good, just very expensive, but I've never actually used them, so I'll defer to the man who actually teaches Thai boxing. If you want to spend that much, you could probably get a pair of Fairtex. I'd save my money and get Twins or Sandee.

I think bag gloves are a waste of time personally. I think you should get used to the weight you're gonna fight at. I used to hit pads with 16oz gloves in the run up to amateur fights. I use a nice pair of twins 10oz's for pads now (because I bought them thinking I'd need 10's....long story). Next gloves I buy will be twins 8oz. Love the twins. They're lovely and get better with time.

im just hovering above the 70 mark but hopefully in a month i'll be in the high 60s permantly,
Just on the price of the hayabusa, they are around 65 euro but if i was to get Twins or Sandee (which id prefer) id have to get them imported thus costing me a similar or greater price and id have to wait for shipping,I can Haybusa in a few mma shops here, so i really dont know what to do, my gloves at the moment are cat and aren't good for the hands

BTW, you Thai guys should know, be the one's to ask, personally I've always used 10 Oz Cletos, and never used Twins or Sandee anyone used all three, how do they compare?

I've used 10oz twins and sandee. Found them both very nice. The twins took a while to wear in. The sandee I used were already well worn but felt good. My 16oz are thaismai and they've lasted very well too.

Never heard of cletos tbh. That doesn't mean that they're not good of course. :)

They're a Mexican boxing glove Khannie, compact, nice for getting around or sneaking through guards, more suitable than larger defensive gloves for a counter striker IMO? though they cost €130

I was wondering if you guys had similar preferences for the twins / sandee?

Holy crapola that's a lot of money! They would want to gently caress my hands like a princess in the night for that kind of cash.

I'd say most of the pro fighters in bridgestone own twins gloves. I'd say that influenced my decision when buying alright. I remember asking around and being told to pay the extra to get twins. I ended up getting them for reasonable money in the end (under 50 euro if memory serves, though it was a few years ago).

I use 12oz Fairtex have them over a year now and as good as new. Do pads, bags with them not a bother. Got them in a sale for $50 in the states. My next pair would probably be Sandee as John sells them in the club down in Waterford and have the Sandee shin pads and are good quality and from the boys using the gloves seem to hold up well.
Alot of people on cage warriors forum from my experience over there seem to like the Cletos for pads and sparring as they say they're a punchers glove.
Still though 120 notes for lace ups is quite dear but I'm sure you'd get your moneys worth.
What about Winning the Japanese ones that are like $250 a pop.

I'd find placing my fists in a princess and punching with her a bit cumbersome, maybe I need to do more weights? :D

Twins are fantastic and super cheap compared to the frankly shocking price of other gloves.
