Routing (Letters)

    I'm not quite sure where to place this thread, but does anyone know, what routing means in terms of letter writing? Is it another way of carbon copying someone in, I just don't understand what it's about, if someone knows, could you let me know thanks?

    AFAIK, it's instructions for transporting items, preferred shipping methods etc. Like this (.pdf file).

    I had a look at that link but I think it's different to what I'm talking about. I'm doing a Medical Secretary course and it's used in some of the letter formats - I'm thinking it's a medical thing, I've never seen it before. It doesn't explain it in the course, I want to know what I'm doing and before I get a job. A tick is placed beside the c.c. at the end of the letter but why??
