I altered it before, so the screen switches off after one minute of inactivity. Thing is, I can't find the option to keep the screen going while away for a couple of minutes.

Its annoying have to tap the mouse every minute too. I am just confused by Windows 7, I had no problems with previous ones.

Control Panel --> Appearance and Personalisation --> Personalization

and you can set the time for the Screen Saver.

    Alternatively, go to

Hardware and Sound --> Power Options --> Edit Plan settings

In there you can set the time for "Turn off display" and "Put computer to sleep" etc

    Hope that helps

I have changed all the settings:

    screensaver to 17 minutes,

turn off display for 17 minutes without being plugged in, 30 minutes while plugged in.

15 minute for the computer to sleep without being plugged in , 2 hours with it being plugged in.

The screen is still turning itself off now, not going to sleep, after 1 minute and I have to move the touchpad to get it back on. I know I adjusted some settings weeks back for it to go back off after a minute, but I am clueless now.

If you right click your desktop and click personalize, in the bottom corner click on screensaver and choose none.
