New to macs and loving the simplicity so far.My problems is that when i put mp3s on a usb.Put it into my car radio every song takes up 2 spaces.I know its only something small but its annoying going back songs and this never happens on my windows system.

The radio i use is the sony cdx gt620.

On a side note i was wondering is there a function where you double click the top of a application and it maximises it or something.

Is there ay widgets you can recommend for trhe dashboard as well

press the green dot in the window, that'll maximise the window.

As for the double spaces I'm not sure if I understand, is it the song name that's taking it up, type size of the file name, the ID information of the song, not sure what you mean.

Put it this way.if i have 5 songs on my usb,put my usb into my radio. When i play the first song its number 1.then if i skip forward. It goes to number 2 for a second.then goes to number 3.Its a weird mac thing that pisses the living ##@# out of me when i try to go back a song.

Sounds like the hidden '.' files are being read by your player. One is created for each real file, for example song.mp3 and .song.mp3 While these are not shown by OS X, they're visible on other systems - try opening your drive in windows.

Good news is that the hidden files can be switched off for removable drives but right now I can't remember how.

You can also delete these files without problems

Here's more info on the .DS_Store resource files and how to prevent their creation on removable disks..

i tried the first one by going into the terminal and typing

    defaults write com.apple.desktopservices DSDontWriteNetworkStores true.

restarted my laptop and it still didnt work.

i cant find findercleaner software and im not going to use the other one since i would have to pay 10e once it has expired

The "DSDontWriteNetworkStores true" command only works for network shares.

    Here's a freeware cleaner: http://www.rocketdownload.com/program/ds_store-cleaner-170693.html

Not as easy to use but gets the job done. Try google for other solutions - it's a very common issue.

I think the download link is dead for that website.
