Just returned from France where I picked up one of these TNT receivers.
I was under impression that these were compatible with Irish DTT however when I tried to set it up I can detect the 6 TV and 10 Radio channels complete with their IDs etc, however no picture and an error message of "Video Type not supported".
    Any ideas/solutions gratefully accepted...
    TIA

Just to add the 10 radio channels are coming in loud & clear but no sound or vision on TV channels....

Only models that can receive TNT HD are compatible with Irish DTT sounds like you bought an MPEG2 receiver which, as you've found out, is useless over here.

Next time you are in France make sure the box says "TNT HD" not simply "TNT" . Pixmania sells a lot of "TNT HD" boxes into Ireland and they work.

Translating the first line with my basic Inter Cert French "Réception en qualité numérique des chaînes terrestres gratuites TV et Radio" - For the reception of digital quality free terrestrial TV and radio channels.

The free DTT standard definition channels (TNT) in France use MPEG-2 video compression, the HD and pay channels use MPEG-4.

Couldn't find an TNT-HD (MPEG-4) receiver on that website link you posted, they don't appear to manufacture one.

    Thanks Lads,
It's obviously MPEG-2 although one of the menus lists MPEG-4 for subtitles(if I recall correctly...).
    €29 down the drain so....
    :(

Did the French not put a ban on MPEG2 products ? Or was it just TVs

Cant remember exactly but it was meant to come and was then extended for a year which as far as I can remember kicked in finally in December last year.

Sorry to the bearer of further bad news, but for an extra tenner you could have got a TNT HD box in most supermarkets over there.

Give it to someone who can pick up TV direct from from the UK, it will work for them.

Since last Dec TVs larger than 66cm (26 inches) have to include an HD/DTT receiver and by 1 December 2012 all television sets and set-top boxes must include an HD/DTT tuner.
