Forgive my ignornance in all things here - I just have too quick questions re the new iphone.

    (1) Can one buy the iphone in the US sim free and then use it here in Ireland? Are they blocked in some way - as no doubt they would be alot cheaper over there

    (2) what are the battery life like on iphone - the life on my ipod have been very poor from the first day of purchase - 3 years ago - i'd have to charge it nearly every night

Well I charge my 3gs nearly every night. If your using It quite a bit like me I'd say a day to a day and a half battery. Maybe the rest of the guys have a different experience to me though??.

Yes you can buy from the US but there are a lot of things to take into account, ie: is it genuine Apple, is it really unlocked, how much is shipping, how soon would it get delivered etc etc...?

Battery life will not be great as with any smart phone. Maybe a day or 2 at normal useage.

    A common misconception. :)

From what I read on this forum (and see the other posts in this thread), you cannot buy it SIM free.

Also, getting somebody over there to buy one and post it over here actually works out around the same price after customs and VAT is added.
