Sharewatch is changing their share execution only service from direct sharedeal to ODL securities, does anyone have experiance with trading with ODL securities ifso how do you find their service, anyone else going to switch to ODL or select another broker. Just after looking at ODL online site which lists exchanges but not iseq, also not sure if they will offer same live price bid and offer prices over the phone as direct sharedeal does.

I got the email too. Title was "Exciting times at sharewatch" Yes very exciting but not my type! I've noticed lately if you google a word the word scam comes up in the options. I typed odl securities and the usual scam options came up. It worries me. Are they true or are they mis information. I dont know odl securities. Its easy to buy and sell stock but getting your money back out is the real test .

Some of those reviews about their FX business are worrying.

When are they switching over? I rang them last week and they said it would be sorted out by now.

I have signed over to ODL, however they are, they are better than Sharewatch and there trading platform looks pretty good (downloaded their demo) I like the fact we can now trade on many exchanges without having to fund our account with the currency of that exchange! Getting access to the american, canadian and other euro exchanges has got to be good. I dont trade FX so cant comment on that aspect, but again the trading platform looks good
Diarmaid I think the reason the word scam came up behind ODL on google was probably because people were checking was the email they received a scam!!??..also some of the blogs I read alot of it sounded like sour grapes by people who lost money, thats just my personal opinion anyway and in fairness it was not to long ago that Sharewatch themselves had more blogs and threads complaining about them. I think most brokers like bankers will be crooked in some way so i'll chance these crooks first!!!...I will let ye know if I have any problems with them. Good Luck all!:)

    Mike
Thanks for the response. I am happy too. I'll keep away from FX and spread betting. There seems an undercurrent of shiftiness in the area of online financials and its not a nice place for a novice. My losses were all my fault in general and my gains mine too thank god. Think you just need to be alert all the times if theres a lot at stake in a transaction you carry out. Anybody check out to see is their a demo account you can sign up for? Some online brokers have them. Delta Index had one for spread betting..

Hi Tiesto, I have not had mine updated yet, even after numerous phone calls. Did you receive an email with your new details etc. or how were you informed? It is taking along time, to long really.

    Tiesto,

I received an email last night in relation to my account change over, it just requested details which you probably already filled out. I sent it off and received this:

    "Dear Client,

Thank you for choosing to move your Sharewatch account from Direct Sharedeal to ODL Securities Ltd.
We will shortly be opening an ODL equities account in your name. This process may take up to 48 hours.
Once your account is open you will automatically be sent an e-mail that provides you with your log-in details and further information about how to use our equities trading facilities. In addition, you will also be notified when Direct Sharedeal transfers your balance and any open positions you have to ODL.

We appreciate that you will be trading with ODL and please know that we are doing everything we can to make this process as smooth as possible.

In the interim, if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us at 1890 818 111, or e-mail us at sharewatch@odls.com.

    Kind Regards,

    ODL Securities Ltd."

I am now waiting on the log in details and I suppose I will have to wait for my balance and open positions after that.

With that said the balance on my account is virtually nil, but I have a few open positions, I wonder are they switching over all the accounts with cash first, for their own gain obviously!!:D

I got the same email and filled it out the online form.. Although I already have a valid login that works and my positions are there. I doubt they are moving accounts with cash first, as I only have a cash balance of like 30 quid on my account. Cant imagine they could do much with it :)

Sorry for dragging this up again but didn't see the point in starting a new thread.

Does anyone know what happens if you had bought shares through SW's small trade service and you want to sell them? Will you have to go through ODL?

Won't be selling them for years but just wondering what happens.

Moved to TD Waterhouse from SW last year. Very Good. Only €20 per trade worldwide.
