    Lads,

I'm looking for steel mesh panels to make a dog run, need approx 18ft of it. One of the panels needs to have a door in it. Also, what height do I need to be going to keep a lab from jumping it?

What part of the country are ya in. Family members in the steel business, How much have you to spend?

A few of my mates got old builders boundary fences and made dog runs out of it.
Buying steel is an expensive affair, however teh security mesh may be your cheapest option, And can the doggy can't jump 8 ft ;)?

the mesh fences on building sites are dangerous as the dog can get its head into the slots .

True, The lads I know have dogs with big heads, Alaskan Malamute and German shepard.

Although, Would a Lb fit his head through square mesh?

I made my run from angle iron & 8*4 weld mesh.
Set 2 poles in the middle of it for hanging a cheap(But sturdy) garden gate & a lick of paint - hey presto fine run & you can make it as tall as you want (mine is about 7 feet tall)
If you can't access a welder the likes of dubi clips or back plates & bolts would do the trick to attach the mesh to the angle iron

Piece of cake as some would say!

Build it in a circle, out of glass, with an inward sloping top, and keep it well smeared with grease:

Recently saw a dog run made from wooden stakes & chicken wire. Looked sturdy enough & was housing a lab & a terrier.

The wire was doubled around it if that makes any difference. Looked the part anyway.

I doubt it, a determined dog would make muck out of it, maybe cut his/her gums at it too. After making a couple of things out of chicken wire, my honest opinion is it's practically useless as a method of protection/penning.

E FUDD ive just finished making a 16'x7'x5' dog run made it from 40x40mm box section and 2" weldable mesh solid job am fitting the panels this weekend after the concrete floor sets anyhoo 21euro per lenght of box(25') and 16euro for an 8'x4' sheet of mesh... in my opinion its the only way to go i am putting a pretty big wirehair into it and i know he cant get out but i guess every dog is different:)
