Changing VRT on car from Northern Ireland

    There is a possiblity of getting a car from the North (for free, its a family member giving it to us). As we are not buying the car we just need to transfer the vrt for it so we can use it in the south of ireland. Does anyone have any idea of the cost of doing something like this?

    Sorry, its a Mazda Demio, 2001. Value of 1500. Not sure of engine size but thinks its 1.3L

    There's no problem with importing on a transfer of residence, provided the owner fulfils all the relevant criteria. I trust we're all clear now.:)
