I'd like to register as self employed (no vat) i live in Dublin and would like to get it sorted in the next few days if possible. What is my best course of action? going into revenue office in Dublin and dealing with someone face to face?

You need to fill out the form TR1. You can go in and hand over the form in person, but you won't get a tax cert straight away, although they can give you confirmation of your application if that's what you need.

I went in about 6 or 7 weeks ago now, and I still haven't recieved my cert.

Your TR1 will be effective from when you lodge it anyway, so speed doesn't matter if you are not registering for VAT. Nobody else should be interested in you registration status. You don't need a tax clearance cert do you?

Thank you to both of you, been very helpful

i dont need tax cert nor vat (at the moment, hopefully soon!) and i think proof of it rather than document itself should be enough.

Does it really take 6/7 weeks + to get a tax clearance cert? :(
