Another J1 question

    For all those who have applied for a J1 visa before, how long was it before you heard anything back for them?

    Also, the interview with the US Embassy. How long after you hear you have been granted the visa is the interview?

    Maybe if someone could give me an idea of how theirs went time-wise would be great thanks :)

    I am going to apply straight away when it opens up later this year and need to know how long I'd have to get a new passport.

    I put in my application around December the first time, slowly paid things over months and organized paper work. The interview was held in April I think, they'll tell you straight away whether you're eligble for the visa. Then when you go for the interview they usually tell you there and then that they'll send out your visa within a few working days.

    The second time I applied in March, was a bit more rushed, had the interview in May and got the my visa a few days later.
