    Hello all,

want to colour my hair and considering all my options. Have had salon highlights before and loved the initial look, but maintenance is expensive so I'm looking at home colour kits in case I can't find a cheap hairdresser. Can anyone recommend a decent highlighting kit (highstreet brand such as L'Oreal, Garnier, etc) that will colour my hair a carmel-esque colour without giving a yellow/orange undertone?

    Thanks!

I've user the garnier one before but I found I ended up with orangey/red highlights as opposed to blonde.

I've had every colour hair in the last ten years and I'm not afraid to try things but I think when it comes to blonde/highlights you really need a hairdresser!

Where are you based? I've started going to a girl in mullingar who is 60 for a full head and cut and blow dry. I think that's a really good price considering I used to pay 156 in lunatic fringe! Have a look around and see if you can find a reasonably priced hairdresser/or a mobile hairdresser otherwise you might want to consider sticking with your natural colour.

I agree with myxi that for highlights you should probably get a professional to do them, even for the simple reason to make sure their done evenly around your head at the back!

Saying that though, a couple times when I've been to broke to afford a hairdresser I've used the Wella highlighting kit (the one with the very unappealing packaging!) I have very dark brown hair naturally and I've never had any disasters with this one, unlike many others! :)

    Hey Chickah,

I go to a place called funkydoo hairdressers. It's near Newtown Lawns. She's just recently opened after moving down from dublin. It's a little bit rough and ready but they've magazines and tea and the girl is really nice. She's got a page on facebook with her price list and photos etc. If you want to search Funkydoo you should find her. I can't get onto facebook in work or I'd post a linky.
