    For anyone who uses Stocking Lane for part of their spins - noticed on my commute to work this morning, signs notifying that Stocking Lane will be closed from 3rd August for 6 weeks. Not sure how much of Stocking Lane will be closed off, will go check it out next week.

    Isn't the Hellfire Duathlon using Stocking Lane on 11th August ?
    Might be needing the mountain bike :D:D

    Saw the sign up last night, coming up from Ballyboden roundabout. Edmonstown road, Cruagh road is a handy alternative to get up to the meeting point on your way to the Military road / Sally gap, and a nice climb too!

    What's it closed for, repairs? 6 weeks is a hell of a long period

    I'd say its for that watermain that goes down Whitechurch Road, through Edmondstown Golf Club and across Edmondstown Rd. They've been working at it for months and months.
    Not 100% sure though.

    They 'closed' it last year as well while they were resurfacing, but it was still easily passable.

    car = 5 feet/1.5m wide, 500kg

    bike = 1 1/2 feet/0.7m wide, 6-20kg

    being able to carry a bike on your shoulder over roadworks..priceless

    There's already talk by some people in using a MTB for that race as part of it is on some rough terrain and across a stream. Wusses.

    Was up that way this morning.

    Road closed the town side of the M50 just at the pump works for only 50m or so.

    Not able to cycle past it as you have to mount kerb to get onto verge but can wheel by on RHS of road.

    Signs for Hellfire duathlon but it looks as if they (the signs) only started at Mount Venus

    To get around this - there's a pedestrian path you can cycle on to the west side of the road that is in behind the hedge, you can't really see it from the road - as you're coming down from Hellfire/Mt Venus it starts to the left of the pedestrian lights [it goes in behind the hedge] and if you're coming from the Ratharnham side/scholarstown road the path starts at the bottom of the road in behind the hedge to the right, just off the little concrete traffic island.
