Buy a beat up old campervan and live in it.

Save your rent money for coke and hookers.

I've only lived with strangers. Wouldnt live with the mates that wanted me to move in with them. I now live on my own which is awesome, so try that if you can afford it.

Try not to live with mates, familiarity breeds contempt. You want mates to remain 'mates' so best to just see them out for a pint etc and things will always be amicable.

However living with strangers means you run the risk of moving in with a right header but you don't discover it til it's too late.

Kiera has the right idea, I'd love to live alone but it's not always affordable!

Check the cupboards and fridge - if anything is labelled get the fcuk out of there!

Try live with a teacher - they're all boggers who go home every weekend and all of the holidays because they love their mammys and (despite the fact that they will never admit it) are slightly uncomfortable about the proliferance of kebab house over supermacs in the city.

You'll only get pissed off with your mates when you find out what dirty, unhygienic bastards they are!

It's a bad idea to move in with friends.

What's with all the Laois bashing?

Im suprised everyones saying its a bad idea to move in with mates/ I would much prefer that over living with strangers!

That said Ive never done either, I moved directly from home into a house with my bf, but what if you end up living with complete psycho nutjobs I have heard lots of stories and would rather fall out with a mate that I could reconcile with than end up up to my eyes in crazy!

But in the OPs predicament, move in with strangers. Anything beats the lack of freedom of living with the rentals!

I live with mates and a couple in the house and we all get on fine.

I think It depends, make sure you know them pretty well.
Just cause you've been out to the pub with them 15 times in the last 6 months doesn't mean that you'll know them from adam when they move in.

Wherever you move in, just remember your mammy isn't looking after you anymore.
If you clean up after yourself, dont leave crap lying around, and generally be respectful to the fact that everyone else in the house has the same rights as you, it should be ok whoever you live with.

Living on your own is the best option, if you can afford it. I'm hoping to do this early next year.
Have always lived with strangers, but you can get a very mixed bag. The weirdest was I shared with was a Polish chap who'd sit around in his jocks playing christian songs on his guitar covered in "i love jesus" stickers.
Thankfully he moved out shortly after I moved in.

Rent with strangers, its easier then with friends because if you have an issues with them you can just say it and they wont get all pissy about it unless of course they are freaks but even still you can put a lock on your room and just not talk to your house mates. Friends just wonder why you don't wanna talk to them.

This is the problem with life. We all want things others want different things. Mutually exclusive things. And then lots of people aren't right in the head, like OutLawPete. And not many people and maybe no people at all want what they want which is a situation we don't want.
