Anyone recomend a plumber in Raheny/Donaghmede area.
My toilet was leaking and it was coming from the over flow pipe inside the flush system.I opened it up and moved the ballcock which snapped and the water kept on filling up the tank so i had to keep flshing. I went to 2 taps shut off points to stop the water but both snapped looks like the shut off taps had never been used was very old.
So i had to go up to attic and lift up ballcock in attic and hold it up so no more water would come into attic tank. Then i could empty the tank.
So i need someone to repair my ballcock and put in some cut off points if this was ever to happen again.
So anyone recomend a good fair priced plumber with a land line and home address, found that good workmen have no problem with this. Please pm me thanks.

Sorted it all myself just that when it all happend at 1am in the morning panic set in.
Was just a case of getting a new 1/2 inch brass ball cock valve and some new shut off taps all sorted now.
    But thanks.

I think you might be in more trouble and dont realise it.... A brass ball cock is usually a highpressure ballcock and if you put this in your cistern in the bathroom I imagine your toilet is takeing forever to fill..

However if i am wrong and you are happy...Well done.

Yes it does take a fair bit of time to fill.
But i think it always did.
So why would this be a problem?

tbh its not a problem if you dont see it as a problem but its not normal.

A plastic low pressure valve should have been used. perf torbeck or aquasave.

    Hi,
the ballcok in my toilet is not working properly either. I got a plumber come see it, he didn't have anything with him, so he said i needed a new one, that he'll call out during the week to fix it.
He rang yesterday and said he bought the part, and an isolation valve, and that he got other two for the ensuite toilet coz, he said, sooner or later, i'll need to replace that one too.
Thing is, i just wanted the ballcock broken replaced.
He said i need the isolation valve as it's mandatory to have one in each toilet.. So he wants to charge me 250 for all.
Am I beign ripped off? are those valves really mandatory? How much should it be to fix just the broken ballcock? and finally, is it normal that he wants to charge me for 2 call outs (one for the diagnosis, one to fix it)

    Thanks

Its debateable but yes in my opinion you are being ripped off. Tbh this is not a hard job to do about an hours work will do both. I reckon no more than 150 euro.

As for the isolation valve being mandatory i dont know but I am not aware of it. I reckon what he has done is bought a flexi hose with an isolation valve on it to make the job even easier.

As for the ensute one going... It might never. Its because of that i would be pee'd

I reckon you should get another opinion or better still buy

    1. A low pressure inlet valve

    2. A flexhose with iso

3.2 no 1/2" 310 for the ( one for the nuts)

and its not a too difficult DIY job for a confident person.
