An Apartment? You must have very understanding neighbours:)

Have you tried recording directly into Logic using your interface? If so, are you getting good levels doing that?

Hey A V A. I looked for the Art Tube MP Preamp that I mentioned in the other thread but it does look like I threw it out :(

Anyways, putting a mic preamp between your mic and your interface should help you boost your levels.

also try padding your mic and turning your interface gain up. a condensor can be hyper sensitive and you may be driving it too hard even if you arent clipping your interface.
and remember what you hear isnt what your mic will hear since its probably about 3/4 inches from the cone and your ears arent.

That's about -10dBFS. More than enough.

Can you post a sample track so we can hear what you're dealing with?
    What mic are you using?
I'd be more inclined to use a dynamic mic on a guitar amp, something like an Audix i5 of SM57.

I said if I found it you could have it so I'm sticking to my word. I'm away for most of this weekend but I'll be in town early enough tomorrow, around 9 or 10. If you wanna meet up I can give it to you then.

    Edit: sending you a pm
