Check out the A/W lookbooks on store websites Asos, Topshop

There's gonna be loads of leather and sheepskin, and camel/cream/brown shades.

Eyebrows -- lots of eyebrows -- will be in. This terrifies me.

Take a quick look at Stella McCartney and Phobe Philo at Celine Collections, between the 2 designers they have every thing wrapped up.

I love muddy and camel colours, so I might be a bit biased. A/W is very grown up this year I think.

I find A/W never REALLY changes, same way you can predict nautical and floral prints for summer.

It's all about clean lines layered with baggy and masculine dressing. We're seeing the same boyfriend blazers, brogues and fitted trousers. Summer's harem pants are being brought forward too. Not a bad thing, A/W is something I get very excited about :D

I think you got it in one there with the camel/muddy comment. That's what's new this year, the colours. There's going to be loads of khaki too. I hope we're finally rid of that "nude" colour! Does nothing for me :p

I think OP should wait a while before she starts stocking up the wardrobe. The bits and pieces that are coming into the high street now are trans-seasonal. They have the accents of winter trends, but you can wear them now. Give it until the end of August or later, and all the shops will be getting the winter trends in, there'll be more variety so you can shop around, and get proper, warm winter clothes for the best price.

Are you looking for anything in particular?

Camel colours will be very popular especially regarding blazers, sheepskin flying jackets, capes and coats. I'd say the classic Crombie would be a good staple.

Harem pants will be replaced by high-waisted trousers. h%26m+fall+2010_1.jpg

Floaty floral dresses and prints again, but a bit more bohemian then what we've seen so far.

Military style lace up boots, same as last year really, but wedges will be a lot more prominant this season. Asos already have loads of them, same with Topshop etc...

Then the more usual suspects; Lace will be back again too, but not like the underwear as outerwear trend like last year. It'l be more romantic and pretty.
The grungey look will appear again too but glammed up a bit; heavy knits with evening skirts. Fur also will be back, classic winter look I think :).

The H&M lookbook is great so far. Seems to look the most promising.

Thigh High Boots - as seen on the catwalk in Burberry - they were also in last year so whoever has legs long enough to wear them will get two seasons out of them! Plus fur boots and fur lined are in - I guess this fits into the Military look -

Don't people just wear what they want?

Was just looking at a blog called Flying Saucer and Selina, the blogger, got to go to several of the AW10 open day type displays for highstreet shops, including Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins. From what she said and the pics she showed, the following themes seem to be likely...

    • Aviator Chic - especially camel tones for jackets, fur or sheep's wool, and huge collars.
    • Twilight - gothic dresses etc., leather, lace.
    • Clogs - even clogs with fur lining. Utterly impractical to wear but you'll have that!! Also boots with fur rims.
    • Maxi Dresses - carried over from SS10 but in earthier tones like greens, khakis and browns.
    • Tribal/Hippy - like gold plaited belts, greens, browns, high wasted flared trousers, floaty shirts.
    • Lace - but again, in darker shades and less girly.
    • No more cutesy retro patterns - prints like cats and bows seem to be out, a more grown up look being in.
Can't think of any more but I found her blog quite good, particularly for students or people on a budget. If you want a look, the site is at http://www.flyingsaucer.typepad.com

    :)
