Immobiliser

My immobiliser (which I did not realise I had in my car until today) has decided to cause me all sorts of trouble ie kicking in at random.

Is this an expensive job to get done. Mechanic said to me generally there is no way around it other than head to the main dealer. Its a 00 Hyundai accent.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Have you had a check around the immobiliser connections, into the ignition, some of them have a fuse on the line. If no luck an auto-sparks
mechanic would be your best bet.
I'll pm you a tip i did for two cars i've had where the immobiliser was at fault.

On the 00 Accent its the pickup around the ignition that gives problems.
Buy the part and fit it yourself--takes around 10 minutes. The only reason you`d need a main dealer to fit is to get the warning light turned off if its on.
