iPhone 2G/3G/3G3/4 Speed Comparison

It’s a side-by-side comparison of all four iPhone models to date, showing how performance has improved over the past three years.

It’s not a thoroughly scientific trial; for example, the handsets weren’t necessarily running the most optimum OS available. According to the producers, the original iPhone was running 3.1.3, the 3G 3.1.2, the 3GS 4.01 and the iPhone4 was running 4.0.

What’s very striking, apart from refinements like screen quality, is how the iPhone 4 isn’t all that much of an improvement on the 3GS in terms of operating speed:

Interesting.. albeit slightly flawed as the iPhone's were all running different firmwares, so test results can't really be compared. But seeing the difference between the 3GS running 4.01 and the iPhone4 running 4.0 is interesting.

And seeing how slow it is there (just over 3 times slower than the iPhone4 to load 'Plants Vs Zombies'), I'm slightly miffed to still be a 2G owner! :(
