bangenomics commercial 4x4?

thinking/dreaming of acquiring a 4x4 for the coming winter. Whereas I dont live TOO remote, we had considerable issues with snow. Wondering if you kind ppl could help with where to look for a reasonable 4x4 commercial (for tax) bangermobile that would last and get me out of trouble (not for every day use).. plenty of passenger ones about (tho I don't know what to look for, would love an old defender but out of price range of 1-1.5K) do-able ??

An old 3.1 trooper if you can find one, hard to get a good commercial for small money but if you are not bothered by overall condition you should get one that is mechanically sound.

Also consider the Suzuki Jimny. Early ones are advertised for 2k now (so could just fall into your budget). It'll cope with a bit of snow no bother plus it's a 1.3 passenger with cheap tax and insurance and won't get you into trouble with the tax man for driving a commercial privately.

Was hoping for sub 1500 to get me going for it. Dont want it for much other than pulling the horse about and moving hay / getting off the mountain in a hard winter... Jimny is a good idea.. may look further...

The Daihatsu Fourtrak is also worth looking at. Refined it ain't, but it's as tough as nails and, speaking from experience here, you'll run out of cojones before it runs out of grip off-road.

Jimny and pulling a horse box etc, possibly not ideal really. Small petrol engine.
