Small group would like go Alton Towers and waterpark and maybe spa other activites if enough time for 2/3 nights.
Where best place to stay near this?
And which best to get there by plane or by ferry (bus or car)?
Hope someone here have done something similar.
    Would like feedback and advice.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Went there a few months ago and we got a deal at the time, directly through Alton Towers' website, think it was 1 night in the hotel, with a 2 day pass to the theme park with dinner and breakfast included, worked out at £150 or so for the two of us. A pass for one day for one person is around £30 so from that point of view it was quite reasonable.

It can be pricey, but if you book at the right time, the splash landings hotel is good, insofar as you're right there at the theme park so no travelling to and from, and the beds/facilities are surprisingly good considering it's kind of a novelty place.

If you can avoid going when the school holidays are on, I'd definitely recommend it. We made the mistake of booking during the UK half term and it was a nightmare queuing up for certain rides, 13 took about three hours.

For getting there, we flew into Manchester because flights to there were really cheap at the time and it was really handy. From Picadilly to Stoke on the train took about 25 minutes, and then directly outside Stoke station there's a bus stop for the alton towers bus that brings you right to the front door. Costs about £3 from memory. Another option would be to fly into East Midlands airport, although it limits your flexibility a bit cos there aren't many flights to there, and the transport wouldn't be as good.

If there's anything else, ask away and I'd be glad to help. It's good fun and well worth doing- not usually my cup of tea but really glad now that I got dragged along :)
