Desire Reboot Loop problems

Recently iv been having problems with my HTC Desire crashing and then automatically rebooting over and over and over in a constant loop.

It always seems to be as i launch or close an app. Today i was listening to music for about 20mins. Turned it down while it was in my pocket and it went into the loop.
Another time was browsing google maps and it went into the loop again.

The only way of turning the phone back on again is to remove the battery, sd card and sim card, leave it for 20-30mins and put them back in.

I googled the problem and some say Task Killers cause it so i uninstalled the task killers...No Joy!
    Did a factory reset...No Joy!
Im livid at the moment because i only have the phone 4 weeks (from meteor) and its looking more and more like ill have to send it back to HTC as Meteor seem to be out of stock.

    Does anyone have this problem?

Its probably a faulty phone. Just bring it back.

    Hi Hogzy,

I had the exact same problem. I called HTC and they suggested a reset x2 without SIM/SD Card. I couldn't even get the second reset to work as the loop started again. My phone is currently in a DHL depot on its way to HTC...

Hopefully it will be sorted quickly. But with all the stock issues, I fear it could take a while... Back to the old phone for a bit

    /T

A definite hardware issue. It sounds to me as though the main CPU has heat issues causing it to loop. It overheats once and then restarts to prevent damage. As soon as the kernel loads it senses that it's too hot and then reboots again.

All you can do is send it to HTC unfortunately.

Something similar happened to me yesterday on my 2 week old desire, i turned on Wi-Fi Hotspot so a friend could access the net for a minute, then when i went to turn it off the phone rebooted and would come back on for about 20 secs then reboot again. This happened five time in a row and on the 5th time i managed to get into the Wi-Fi Hotspot and turn it off and phone has been grand since.

I think you could be right in regards over heating. I have noticed the bottom of the phone has been getting "hot" (well warm really), iv never had a phone get warm before. Think ill call HTC now and see whats up.

Thanks lads for the help. Really wish i could just bring it to meteor and get a replacement but i know theyll have no stock :(
