I was out with the brother shooting today on a new permission and we shot a hape of crows:D. We were shooting on standing barley and got it very hard to collect a few even. Do ye lads leave em on the ground, they'd surely be below the cutting knives of a combine when he starts harvesting it in a few weeks:confused:.

Was that you out the front of my house today??:D Two fellas at crows across from my house today, in Offaly. Lucky feckers as i was trying to locate the farmer for permish.

I do try and make a 'kill zone' between decoys but this obviously isnt 100%. I have the dog but on standing crops i dont like sending him in. I reckon a good few will be picked up by foxes anyway. I try to find as much as i can but its like they disappear. One farmer i shoot for often takes a shot before i leave or as im packing up. Iv said 'i better get that 1 etc' and he says ah leave him, he be alright'. So i presume its ok. Having said that, i have seen pheasant chicks wrapped up in a bale of straw

I would try to gather as many as possible but some will always fall in tall standing crops. If there's a tractor wheel track through the crop in that area I will walk down that & try to locate the carcasses but if not possible I just leave them....no point trudging through & flattening standing crop & ending up doing more damage than the crows!

we shoot for a few farmers standing corn, and they tell us to leave them that they will be below the cut, that we will do more damage by walking through it, we just ask the farmers,if we find corn flattened we set up spinners bouncers and decoys there and knock as many on the flattened area at least you would pick up most of them.use the same track every time to walk out to flattened area, seems to keep the farmers happy here.
