Planning on buying an iphone 4 when it comes out on vodafone prepay. the current price plan for the 3g says a flat data tariff of 99c per day. does this mean that, for example, if you check your email once a day on your phone youll be charged 99c a day?

Yeah, your best bet is to take up their vodafone 360 plan. 12 euros a month.

Vodafone Simply might be a good idea for you, i'm on it atm.

    €20 pm for 100 mins & 100 texts, any network + landlines
Free VF to VF calls & texts anytime
    €10 for 1GB data add-on

I'm also on a summer promo for june/july/august for 100 free landline mins pm

iphone = data plan of some sort, unless you want to pay 99c a day so your €30 will be used up on just that

Possibly switch to a differant network, their data plans are not as fair as vodafone or meteor in my opinion.

I wouldn't agree that the iPhone is only suited for people with a Data plan. I used an iPhone and am currently using a Pre on PAYG and it never ate up my credit. What I did was change the APN so I wouldn't be charged everytime I got a new email or notification etc. Whenever I wanted to check my email, or do a bit of browsing I would change the APN to its correct settings and would be charged the 99c for the 50MB allowance.

Guess I'll just stick with 02 because I'm leavin the country soon so no point in changing now. If I don't want to use mobile Internet I just turn 3G and cellular data off. But that's a rare occasion. I get free texts and calls to 02 if I topup by 20 a month and eirtext does me for testing vodafone etc

OP you might want to have a look at the vodafone 360 service that they provide.

    http://www.vodafone.ie/vlive/internetmobile#prepay

it leads people to believe that they can only use it with a 360 handset but i rang voda CC the other day for a customer and they told me it can be applied to any PAYG.
