Ford Focus Not Starting

    06 Ford Focus 1.4 Zetec wont start every month or so. It will only start when pushed down a hill etc. The first time we assumed the lights were left on but now we are sure there was nothing draining the battery.

    Has anyone else heard of these issues with a Ford Focus? The battery is only 4 years old. I thought batteries lasted much longer than that?

    is there any similarites to what you are doing before it wont start ie is it left sitting for a while after makng a lot of short trips etc.

    If your driving is a lot of short journeys the battery just may not be getting a chance to recharge before the engine is turned off again

    Thanks for the replies. It would have had fair use the past few weeks.

    I also forgot to mention that when you turn the ignition it takes a few seconds to start the engine, not too long but longer than other cars take. It's been like that for as long as I can remember.

    Hi Fabmorretti,

    did you get your alternator sorted out? I have a similar problem with a 2006 Focus, it has been sggested that I replace the alternator at a cost of 300 +labour.

    Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

    Batteries theses days only last 2-3 years, also if a flat battery is left flat for a long time will f**k it.. A car will never charge a battery fully either, so if jump started from flat it will never be right... Get new Battery...

    Eh, nonsense.

    I've had cars from new out to 6 or 7 years, and never had a battery problem. Our current cars are 3 and 5, no issues at all.

    €300 Plus labour????

    Madness. A reconditioned alternator is around 150, and 100 labour to fit

    Edit, just realised it's an old thread resurrected
