Game Recommendation?

Hi all,

Apologies, if there is a megathread or something where I should be asking this.

Basically, I'm not a serious gamer, and don't keep up with what games are good and bad, and generally just select them by reading the back of the cover.

So I'm probably going to go and buy a game later today or tomorrow, so I decided I'd go for advice this time.

Games I've bought and liked:

-All the GTA's, not mad about GTA4 though
-Red Dead Redemption
-Oblivion
-Fallout 3(favourite for ps3 so far)
-Infamous(just finished it, great game)
-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1&2
-Killzone(kinda like it, wasn't blown away)

Games which I bought and didn't like:

-Mercenaries 2(bit childish or something, repetitive, and environment was boring)
-Bioshock 2 (Didn't really give it a chance. Played it for an hour or so. Great graphics, but could never really 'get into it', maybe I should have played 1 first?)

Also not a Ps3 game, but the best game I ever played is Deus Ex. Never got to play the sequel, but heard its crap anyway.

So I like games that are character and story driven that have good shooting/combat gameplay as well.

Games I'm considering are Batman Arkham Asylum, Borderlands, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2. Also is the GTA: Liberty City Stories any use? I was kind of disappointed with GTA 4, so not sure whether to go for it.

Has anyone any new recommendations based on what I like? If I buy Uncharted 2 or Resistance 2, will I be missing out a lot having not played the originals?

Uncharted 2 and Arkham Asylum are must buys & affordable,I played the 1st Uncharted before the sequel,didn't make much of a difference for me the 2nd is better.Got Killzone 2 a few months back for €14 so I thought it was money well spent.
Resistence 2 is mediocre,it's meant to be a improvement on the Original but that says more about Fall of man(the 1st game).
Liberty City stories particularly Ballad of Gay Tony is more fun than the dry GTA IV but its far from essential due to it being a bit dated.As for Borderlands its fun for online Co-op but On your own its not near as fun.

From the summer drought the only game worth getting is Singularity which is pretty dam good. Other than that you are going into the back catalogues and there is a huge thread for that all right.

Don't get borderlands anyway. It ticks all the boxes of what you didn't like about mercenaries 2. Didn't like resistance 2 either. Uncharted 2 is great though, so is Batman.

God of War is brilliant too and Dead Space.

If you go to Gamestop and buy Batman preowned you'll get Dead Space free

Cheers. I think thats the one so. Might buy uncharted 2 aswell. Thanks for all the advice.
