Access the following link - http://www.cao.ie/index.php?page=scoring&s=fetac

Open the document Progression to Higher Education Courses 2010 since you will require this to put a name to the codes that are used for entry requirements.

Then to establish the lrelevant FETAC link click on FETAC entry requirements and select Tralee IT. Scroll down to the Music Technology course (for which there is a number of FETAC awards that you can use for entry). They are listed by their award code and there are several despite what the Admissions Office in Tralee IT told you. The award codes use letters e.g. EPAMx etc.

To get the name of the award as opposed to the FETAC award code go back to the document Progression to Higher Education Courses 2010 and you will see that EPAMX is Performing Arts Music. Then find a FE/PLC college that offers this course. Try http://www.qualifax.ie/

Be warned most of these FE/PLC music courses will have already interviewed/auditioned and offered places. It is a bit late to be looking but try anyway you may be lucky. Also remember there is no certainty of a place via the progression route as the IoTs limit the number of places for FETAC applicants so choose a FETAC course that has other options for you.

If you are saying that you have checked with admissions and they say there is no direct link, then I am afraid that is your answer.

However this is what it says on the Qualifax website http://tinyurl.com/27nwm5n

Pass: 20 points Merit: 35 point Distinction: 50 points

Scores are adjusted pro-rata to take account of credit values other than 1 for the modules. Scores are also adjusted pro-rata to take account of the module level; level 1 scores are multiplied by 0.5, level 2 scores are multiplied by 1.0 and level 3 scores are multiplied by 1.25.

    Specific Requirements:
    EPAMX Performing Arts Music
    EPATD Theatre Production
    EPATP Theatre Performance
    EPAXX Performing Arts
    EMMPX Multimedia Production
    CITXX Information Technology
    BEBXX E Business
    ECMXX Creative Media

    3 Distinctions No essential modules

    Looksee and Damian,

There is a link despite what Admissions tell you. Follow the guidelines I posted earlier and check out the CAO website. It is the only accurate source of information regarding links. The following is taken from this.

    TL292Music Technology8EPAMX
    EPATD
    EPATP
    EPAXX
    EMMPX
    CITXX
    BEBXX
    ECMXX
    Three Distinctions

Regardless of what the Admissions Office in IoT Tralee tell you there is a document on their website - Bonus Points for Access Scheme at
    http://www.ittralee.ie/en/InformationFor/FutureStudents/FETACStudents/BonusPointScheme/
which on page 1 lists a progression route from an Information Technology course.

Looksee the points scoring that you posted is for the Pilot Scheme it appears IoT Tralee is following.

    Damian,

Please go back to the start of this thread and read it in detail. You need to check out the exact requirements and remember that they are the mininum requirements. In the majority of cases applicants wishing to progress to anything to do with Music Technology will be presenting with 8 distinctions in order to ensure they obtain their place at IoT. Best of luck in searching for a FE/PLC place as many FE colleges are reporting increased demand and many are operating waiting lists.
