Drill recommendation / point of impact

    Hi,

This is particulary true for me on par 3's, and for irons 6 to PW.
I can't hit these clubs off the tee, so I've started hitting them off the deck.

If I use a tee, I'm either hitting it fat, or topping it, but off the tee, it's fine, I play it just like a fairway shot.

Anyone else have similar experience ? Any drills etc, that can help ?

    Thanks

In theory, when hitting off a tee with an iron you should be doing it exactly the way you do from the fairway i.e. through the back of the ball and taking a divot.

Sounds like you are (perhaps subconciously) changing your swing when teeing it up.

I'd suggest getting to a driving range or patch of grass and hitting a few balls from tees. Try to get in the same mindframe as you would before hitting it from the fairway - i.e. get free of any swing thoughts.

Only other tip i would give is to tee the ball nice and low.

How high are you teeing it?

When I tee it up on a par 3 the tee is just barely above ground level

Teeing it up really really low, so you can barely see the tee.

    I don't *THINK* I'm changing my swing :-)
