    Hi all,

I've got about 500ish to spend on a new set of clubs. I got a really cheap set for 150 when i started off to see if i enjoyed the game and kept t up.

Now i'm playing a bit more and am looking to upgrade. As i said i have about 500 to spend and am looking for some forgiving for a beginner and nothing second hand.

I don't mind buying online and shipping here.

I'm in the same position as yourself, been looking at new clubs to upgrade from the starter set. So far in my research, the Callaway Diablo Edge set look to be the most appropriate for upgrading from beginner clubs. Here's a review I found in my travels. Good site too:

I'm not too sure about the looks however. In any case, McGuirks seem to be doing the iron set at the cheapest price ( €450) compared to a quick search through 2/3 other online retailers & eBay:

Ah sorry, I just assumed you'd have a driver/putter lying about from an old set. The Wilsons are pretty good, I'm currently playing with the cheapest Wilson set (Profile Set I think) and I like them. Only thing to watch out for is for some reason, I think the Hybrid clubs are a bit short for me, while all the irons and woods are fine.

It's the fat shaft I'm looking at !

I could just upgrade my irons and putter but I can sell my cheap set for 100 and the Wilson will only be 300 and no wastage !

Check out Planet Golf in Portlaoise. They do custom fitting for free if you buy the clubs there and have a very good selection, service there is first class too. They should be able to sort you out for 500 quid no problem. I dont have any affiliation with them btw, just a fan of their shop.

I spend an hr online trying to remember their name. Say an ad for them in the cinema today !

Must look up their site now !

Wilson set with good bag is 350 on that site I mentioned above, leaning towards it !

Generally the woods in a full set would not be as good as those you would buy seperatly i'd say try and pick up a set of lasy years irons either Callaway, taylormade or Muzino or wilson easiest to hit ranges and then add in the driver Direct golf

    http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_irons/mizuno/mx-100_irons_golf_irons/p8499

    http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_drivers/nike_golf/sq_dymo_2_square_driver_golf_drivers/p9300

Some options if i had to i would go with the mizunos the above site is very good have used them a couple of times

If you go to www.onlinegolf.co.uk , you can order a set of Cleveland CG7's which come with a free Launcher DST Rescue club for £249. Add a Cobra S91 driver for £80 and a Cobra S91 Fairway for £70. Free postage. All of this serious kit would cost you €479

all good clubs mr piggy...try to hit them at a golf shop or a driving range and pick the ones that feel best...i would say the diablos would be the most expensive and the slingshots the cheapest...try not let that affect your decision though...if you're in dublin, kinsealy driving range would have those clubs in their demo club section for you to try...

Yeah, Zak is bang on, there is nothing wrong with any of those clubs, Just go see which "feels" right for you in your hand.
