Just a follow up to a thread earlier. Just wondered how people come up with their training plans etc

There seem to be a few options.

    1. Coached
    2. Self coached
    3. Book Follower , HH , P&D or maeve binchy

How do you come about your training plan.. 37 votes

Self coached which i dont think is ideal as i am my own worst enemy. Atleast with other people i stick to plan where as with myself a bad race can lead to clouding of judgement and losing sight of long term goals from time to time

Think there's a 4th option needed for eejits like me.

    Play it by ear.

It's P&D for me. I'll see in 3 months time whether I was better off reading maeve binchy ...

    +1

That's the coach I use too, and he's great.

    All of the above.

I tend to know what works for me, what my weak areas are etc.
I'm always reading to see if there is a way to fine tune things.
Meet with the club coach about every 6-8 weeks for a coffee and he reviews my schedule and we change a few things on agreement and Robert's your mother's brother! Then I send him a weekly update and he gives me feedback.
No structured plan at the moment since the injury, just tipping along until mid-Sept when i'll get serious again.

All of the above for me also.

I come up with my own plans, and mostly train on my own, but have read several books on training & programs, and every couple of months discuss my training plan with an established coach, for opinion and guidance.
