    Hi all

Looking to buy a new set of irons. I have always used mizuno irons but am willing to change brands. Anyone any recommendations for a set and of course where to buy them- (not too happy with my club pros prices)

Also thinking of buying some seperate wedges. Anyone using callaway jaws wedges or the titliest vok. ones. Again any recommendations much appreciated.

Currently off 9 which is about right for me

    Thanks

I got fitted for my irons last year outside on the range where I could see ball flight etc. I was clear in my mind that I was going to go with Forged Titleist AP2's. However, I couldn't believe the feel and performance of the Taylormade Burner 09 irons. Awesome clubs and long. I play off the same handicap.

As regards wedges, I've always been a Cleveland fan. The new CG15's are amazing and the spin they generate had to be seen to be believed. I'm not a fan of the Dynamic Sole Grind so I'd recommend going with your chosen loft and bounce. Hope this helps.

Tried set of mizuno mx300 and they were great. Also think of going for the mizuno wedges but am unsure of the lofts I should buy.

What lofts do people generally buy ( the new set of irons come with a pw) so should I get a 54 and a 60 degree

I would recommend that you go onto the Mizuno website and check the loft on the MX300 PW as not all wedges carry the exact same loft. Ideally you want no more than a 4 or 5 degree gap between your PW to Gap Wedge, Gap to SW and SW to lob wedge.
On the TaylorMade's that I have the PW is 45 degree so I gave a 50 degree Gap, 55 SW and 60 degree LW. The bounce angle is also important. Some people go for a mix of high and low bounce wedges to give versatility. I went with standard bounce as most of my golf is played on parkland. The Mizuno website will probably explain this as well.

Unless you are old or have a pretty slow swing speed I would avoid them.

Not much of a bargain if you can't hit the things out of your way.

Yeah, I'm looking to get a new set of irons. Find the golf shops to be too expensive and would prefer to get a second hand set from the likes of adverts or e-bay. The problem is buying irons on these site and not being able to use them properly ie. blades. There are thousands of irons out there and they all claim to be great and usually quote "game improvement irons" (sure isn't that what we all want to do!) to any golfer regardless of the standard of the golfer. I'm currently playing off 11 with wilson fs grafites. I'm looking to see if anyone can recommend a club to suit my handicap and of course to improve my game. Would't it be nice to see a sectioned list of golf irons suited to low/medium/high h/c's. Rather than having golf equipment manufacturer's claiming to have the best irons

not sure about what clubs to recommend as i think there's a lot of nice new one's,i think it comes down to personal choice,if it was me i'd get fitted for a new set of Mizuno with the new shaft options available you'll do well to beat them
regarding wedges i have the new callaway jaws 52 deg's,it's a beut,i'm not a fan of the cleveland,i have one in 56 deg's but compared to the callaway it's a lot heavier and as a result doesn't seem as well balanced as the callaway,

Bought mizuno mx 300 after and got a custom fit. Also bought some mizuno wedges to go with the set.

The greens yesterday were receptive and the bit and stop from the wedges were amazing !!

Was seriously thinking of treating myself to the MX300's for my upcoming 40th. What sort of price did you get the custom fitted set for?

Traded in old set of mx 20s (I think) custom fit was free. So the trade up price was €400. They cost €600 straight deal in mcguirks and online.

hey, um sorry to but in like this but im also looking to buy a new set of clubs. im just a beginner and cash is kinda tight at the moment so i have it down to 2 sets the ram fx 100 or the wilson 1200cg. at the moment i only have clubs that were bought in heatons and they dont really give me a feel to the game as all clubs hit the same distance and i feel im missing out. if you could help me decide i would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I have just bought a set of Wilson Di7's got them in American Golf for 199euro. I have only played with them twice but have noticed a real difference in distance, a shot i would have used a 7iron on i now only use a 9 iron. Keep a eye on Gumtree and Donedeal as you could well see a good bargain.
    Best of luck
