how do you pay for paid apps on the market?

so, if i pop a uk sim into my htc desire how do i pay for paid apps? is it linked to my google checkout account? do i setup a new account? do i just enter credit card details per purchase? can i redownload them if i replace my device or format my device? thanks

UK sim gives access to UK market. It is linked to your google checkout account. You can absolutely redownload them again (as I frequently have to do when I change ROMs!). They are tied to your google account forever.
