Dawn of War 2 chaos rising

While scouring the net for all things starcraft 2 i found a lot about dawn of war 2
I must say it looks like a cracking game, i especially like the move away from base building, anyone playing it?
How does multiplayer work out with no base building?
Im tempted to pick it up along with SC2 tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of DoW2 as an RTS and I have played it to death. It's fun in 3v3s with mates as the battles are ridiculous. But it lacks the depth to achieve any form of 'balance' so theres always horribly broken aspects of some races. The lack of base building just means the playstyle is linear, it's never about what tech you go, just when.

The single player in DoW2 is excellent, both vanilla and Chaos Rising, and worth the money alone. Each squad is levelled up seperately and you can customise your squads to radically change their role in game. Similar level of squad customisation to Chaos Gate (slightly less control over wargear, but more over stats and abilities).

Also if you play it on Primarch it's a brutal challenge, really goo fun. On Primarch a single plague marine will be able to beat a squad of assault terminators in close combat, it's not really balanced but it's a good challenge

But your probably better of ignoring multiplayer, it's fairly repetative and the balance is even worse than DoW1.

Probably should have named this thread just DOW2.
Anyways i must say i like the look of the game especially multiplayer.
Looks like a decent rts/rpg action shoot em up.
I see amazon have the gold edition for £15

I believe there's a patch coming out soon enough to sort out some of the balance issues and add more to multiplayer. Actually it went live the other day! The eternal war update.

Multiplayer very unbalanced ! laggy sometimes and so slooooow compared to sc2

Watched a few video reviews this afternoon and they say single player is good but mp is where its at

I cant get past the first mission on chaos rising,I also get killed at the end

I was a big DOW fan, but not really pushed about DOW2, yeah the single player was fun but I didn't bother with online. It seemed more like an RPG than an RTS the lack of economy and small unit cap meant there wasn't much variance to the game.

A good community site for dow2 is www.dow2live.com They commentate live on games sometimes.

Dow2 is fun, much less intense than SC2, but it can be frustrating when thins don't work as intended.

There's an expansion coming out in March. It'll feature Imperial Guard as the new race.
